9 Beautiful & Fun Places to Visit in Ekiti
If you are looking for places to visit in EKITI STATE , you’ve come to the right place! It is not a secret that Ekiti isn’t the most touristic destination in the world. Apart from residents and Nigerians in general, most people who come here do so for business purposes. I will be sharing some of the best places to visit in Ekiti state , Nigeria.
I have written extensively about some of these places on this blog, so if you are an avid reader, you are already familiar with them. I usually write only about places I have been to and can recommend, however, for this list, I will be including a few places I haven’t visited yet (but would love to go to).
Fun Places to Visit in Ekiti state, Nigeria
- ERO DAM and LAKE
This tourist site is located at Ikun-Ekiti and covers about 11km. The indigenes of the town and Hausa people fish on the dam. Local canoes, boats are been used by these fishermen.
2. FAJUYI MEMORIAL PARK
The park houses the final resting place of the former Premier of Western region, Col. Adekunle Fajuyi. This memorial park is located in Ado-Ekiti the state capital.
3. ARINTA WATER FALL
The water fall is a beautiful site to behold, where the mighty works of nature is been showcased. It is situated at about 6km Northwest of Ikogosi.
4. IKOGOSI WARM SPRING
This is one of the top tourist destinations in Nigeria and it is located at Ikogosi Ekiti, Ekiti West LGA. It is a unique site that is popular because of the meeting point of warm and cold water and it’s flowing in a single stream.
5. ESA CAVE
The cave is located In Iyin-Ekiti and it is capable of containing about thirty four thousand people at a time and it is believed to have shielded the people of the town during the Yoruba war.
6. EWI PALACE ADO-EKITI
The palace is an epitome of traditional architectural edifice, and offers a big opportunity for you to learn more about the cultural heritage of Ekiti people.
7. OROLE HILLS
Are you in search of a perfect sightseeing, picnicking and mountaineering in Ekiti, then Orole Hills in Ikere Ekiti is the best place to be. Myth has it that the hill was formerly a woman who was worshipped and is still worshipped as a goddess in the town.
8. OLOSUNTA HILLS
Another hill in Ikere-Ekiti is the Olosunta hills. The Ugele hill which is situated beside it has a cave that could take one thousand people, a big space used in the past for wrestling.
9, ERIN AYONIGBA FISH RIVER
This top tourist site is located in Erinjiyan Ekiti. The site is known for a colony of sacred catfish, not consumable and highly forbidden.
